Japanese outbound travel is on track to break the all-time annual high record set in 2000 of 17,818,590.
The Ministry Justice reported that between January and June, Japanese heading abroad numbered 8,964,605, the highest since the 9,896,492 set 12 years ago. Up +17.51% from a year ago when the country’s disastrous earthquakes and tsunami hit the travel industry, traffic has shown double-digit increases each month this year compared to the more relevant baseline of 2010, ahead +13.40% cumulatively.
