A hydrogen-on-demand system turned this motorcoach into a water-hybrid
With rising fuel costs threatening the lifestyle of thousands of RV owners, the team at Pure One Environmental Inc., based in Santa Ana, California, have installed a six pack of water-converting hydrogen fuel cells under the hood of a local resident’s motorcoach. The results are incredible; they saw a 50 per cent increase in the vehicle’s fuel mileage along with greater horsepower and cleaner emissions.

The technology of converting water into hydrogen, which is known as Brown’s Gas, has existed for more than 90 years. However, the news is that Ozzie Freedom, who is the founder of Water4Gas—a company that is leading the water-fuel movement across the U.S., Canada, the United Kingdom and Australia—, has simplified the technology and modified it for vehicles. He has compiled the data into e-books, making it available for everyone to use on any type of road-faring vehicle. Freedom’s mission is to put the technology of free fuel into the hands of the everyday consumer.
The Water4Gas technology of hydrogen-on-demand is fairly simple. Take a container of distilled water, add a small amount of baking soda and run 12 volts of electricity through it from your vehicle’s battery when you turn on the ignition. This starts up a process called electrolysis which separates the hydrogen and oxygen atoms in the water and forms a gas called HHO (hydrogen + hydrogen + oxygen). The hydrogen gas gets sucked into the vacuum air intake system of your vehicle where it combines with the gasoline or diesel in your engine and produces a level of combustion that is three times more powerful than gas or diesel alone.
The Water4Gas system is equipped with a hydrogen fuel cell that harnesses the power of hydrogen while the water keeps it stable. Unlike pure hydrogen vehicles with their highly pressurized hydrogen tanks and stations, it’s completely safe. The small amount of water vapour running through your engine keeps it clean by removing carbon deposits.
The Water4Gas system is user-friendly; maintenance involves a periodic refill of the water containers. Installation of the system doesn’t affect the vehicle’s warranty and it can be removed in a matter of minutes.
According to Water4Gas, anyone can turn their vehicle into a water-hybrid by following Freedom’s instructions on how to build to system with parts from local stores. His e-books list every part, the part numbers and where to buy them as well as photos and step-by-step instructions. Automobile owners can also purchase the kit from one of the individuals and companies who manufacture the parts, build the kits and install the system. Over the last few years, the company says thousands of Water4Gas systems have been installed on everything from small four cylinder engines to semi-trucks and RVs.
